This week, we hear from Bernardo Bachino from our European team.

Tell us a bit more about your background before joining PlaySight.

Bernie: I studied and played tennis in the US, at Jacksonville State University, where I graduated with a Business Degree. I have been coaching tennis for over 10 years, and in addition to PlaySight, I am a partner at BASE Tennis (our tennis academy in Germany) and BASE Edge. Currently, I am studying for my Master’s in Digital Marketing at IE University in Madrid.

What sports did you play growing up?

Bernie: Tennis my whole life. A bit of a trial in football (soccer) but growing up in Brazil, I quickly realized tennis was where I found more success. I played tennis on a scholarship in the US at Auburn University and then transferred to Jacksonville State University where I got my Business Marketing degree and was a two-time NCAA OVC Conference Champion.

What attracted you to working at PlaySight? 

Bernie: The ability to join my passions for marketing and business, technology, and sports, mainly tennis. At PlaySight I truly have the best of all areas of interest intertwined. 

What is your role at PlaySight?

Bernie: Mainly sales, but also heavily involved in marketing,  product implementation and account management, mainly on countries where there is a language barrier I can help gap, such as Spain, Germany and Portugal.

Favorite athlete of all-time?

Bernie:Roger Federer and Ayrton Senna.

Favorite team and sport?

Bernie: Favorite team is Gremio (the football club from my hometown) and favorite sports are tennis and MMA.

What is the best part about working at PlaySight?

Bernie: Being in a fast-paced, international and sports-tech environment. Getting the possibility to synergize and learn from the best sports programs and people in the world on a daily basis has been rewarding as well.

What is your favorite experience so far during your time at PlaySight?

Bernie: Meeting one of my childhood idols and discussing PlaySight (actually landing a sale) with him at his own academy. He was a former French Open winner and #1 in the world during my teenage years and his name is Juan Carlos Ferrero.
